Derek Pitt Madeley Village Agent

Derek Pitt is now working as part-time Village Agent for the Parishes of Madeley and Whitmore. The Village Agent scheme is already working very well in the Staffordshire Moorlands area. He is employed by the Community Council of Staffordshire, and a report about the Project was presented to the Madeley Parish Council. The overall aim is to support regeneration in the Madeley area by preparing and implementing a varied programme of new projects and improvements to existing facilities and services. Funding support will be sought wherever possible.

Following the successful Community Consultation Day event there was much useful comment on the key issues in the area, particularly Traffic, Environment, and Leisure provision. A Steering Group is now being formed to produce the new Action Plan for the whole of Madeley Parish.

This is the opportunity for the Community to define the issues to be tackled by the Plan, and to develop a shared vision over the next 10+ years, with a programme of projects, linked with activities already underway.

A Steering Group to prepare the new Parish Plan has now been formed following a meeting held at the Village Hall on 1st October, and work has been split into 5 key topics :-

  • Planning and Environment
  • Business and Local Economy
  • Traffic and Transport
  • Social and Community activity
  • Information and events

The new Plan will provide a focus for action over the next 5 years, but with a vision for 10 years, and beyond.

Anyone interested in assisting this work as a volunteer, or group member is very welcome. Please contact Derek Pitt for more information if you would like to help.
